And just like that, October 2024’s General Conference is in the rear view mirror and we get to work on the spiritual impressions we’ve received. My favorite talks were in this order:
- L. Todd Budge – Seek Him with All Your Heart
- D. Todd Christofferson – Burying Our Weapons of Rebellion
- Brook P. Hales – Mortality Works
So many other incredible talks, but those who ones that called to me and helped me want to make important changes in my life.
I would LOVE to know which talks had the greatest impact on you! Please let me know in the comments below.
Temple Challenge
A quick note off the top. If anyone wants to join me in my #GeneralConferenceTempleChallenge, please do! Essentially, my goal for the next six months is to attend the temple 17 times to match the number of temples that President Nelson announced. I’ve been doing this for three conference cycles now and it’s fun to have a goal for attendance that I can use to keep myself accountable.
Last conference, President Nelson announced 15 temples but I was only able to attend 12 times in the last 6 months. I was pretty disappointed in myself and then my wife reminded me that I was pretty sick for a whole month, so that made me feel a little better about dropping the ball. Since I fell 3 visits short, I’m actually going to add those missing visits to the 17, so I plan on attending 20 times in the next 6 months.
I understand this goal is not realistic for everyone due to temple locations, but I would encourage you to participate or find your own way to set a goal that will make the temple and temple attendance a top priority for you. You with me?
Great Memes
There are many members active on social media during general conference, and here are a sampling of some of their posts that caught some attention.

Seventeen New Temples
President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced 17 new temples during the concluding session of the October 2024 general conference.
- Juchitán de Zaragoza, Mexico
- Santa Ana, El Salvador
- Medellín, Colombia
- Santiago, Dominican Republic
- Puerto Montt, Chile
- Dublin, Ireland
- Milan, Italy
- Abuja, Nigeria
- Kampala, Uganda
- Maputo, Mozambique
- Coeur d’Alene, Idaho
- Queen Creek, Arizona
- El Paso, Texas
- Huntsville, Alabama
- Milwaukee, Wisconsin
- Summit, New Jersey
- Price, Utah
Many of these temple locations were predicted by Chris Knudsen and his wonderful analysis he runs based on membership and number of stakes and distance from other temples. You can see his predictions again in this article.
Was there any temple that was especially meaningful for you? Please let me know in the comments below. I was excited for the Price, Utah temple because my daughter and son-in-law moved down to Ferron, Utah and this Price temple will decrease their temple travel time from 90 minutes to 45 minutes when it is finished.
Oops! I Shouldn’t Have Said That
Speaking of the list of 20 temples that were predicted for October, I have it on good authority that one of those 20 that wasn’t announced in October is already being planned and should be announced in April. I’m excited for it to be announced. In a private setting one of the general authorities might have let it slip.
Their First General Conference
Two friends of other faiths who have been studying with the missionaries mentioned that this was going to be their first General Conference. Another member who just returned to activity also shared that this October was his first as an active member after having spent many years out of the church.
My first General Conference today 😁

Really, really excited for my first general conference. Hoping I’ll be able to learn a lot from it.

So general conference is pretty amazing. Finished up watching at about 4am this morning. So many amazing speakers. I really had a lot of questions answers and my feelings validated. Also the choirs and songs are unreal. Loved it!

As most of you know, I was rebaptized on April 20th, 2024. This was my first General Conference back as a member. I went into this General Conference and knew it was be great and special… but I’m simply blown away. From the Church of Joy, to the messages of hope, to the calls of…

Onward and Upward
General Conference is a time of renewal. It’s a time to recommit and be replenished. We invite you to revisit the conference talks and make them a source of continued study and inspiration. I’m excited to tackle these next six months with real intent!

My mom and I have a goal to the temple monthly, we are 2& 1/2 hours away from the Nashville Temple. We generally make it, but are looking forward to the completion of the Knoxville temple and it being only 30-40 minutes away! We will be able to go much more often!
My favorite talk was Elder Renlund’s talk about the gospel and the church!
I saw a video where someone claimed it was mentioned 7 times. I’ll have to check that out now!
Yeah, those were both amazing talks as well!
My second favorite talk (after President Nelson’s) was Elder Holland’s talk, “I Am He”. I was just mesmerized. It was so powerful.
President Nelson mentioned the Second Coming four times in his short talk! Makes me think it’s getting close!
