Why Do Gay Latter-day Saints Stay in the Church? Here’s What They Said:

1️⃣ “The scriptures are filled with stories of people like me, who didn’t have all the answers but learned to trust God fully. I stay because the good outweighs the pain. I can’t see myself anywhere else, even if it might be easier. Too much comfort and peace come from my participation in the Church to ever leave it behind.”

2️⃣ “The dissonance of being in a same-sex relationship while remaining in the Church can be unbearable. But leaving the Church would mean forsaking a major part of who I am. I stay because I believe in the gospel and cannot turn my back on it, no matter how complicated it makes things.”

3️⃣ “When the Church gets hard, I reflect on the 13 Articles of Faith. They always resonate with my heart, even when culture and policy don’t. So, I keep moving forward.”

4️⃣ “I draw much inspiration from other Saints who have pioneered uncharted paths, finding strength in their courage and resilience.”
