Ten Encouraging Scriptures When You Need a Spiritual Boost

Heavenly Father sent us to earth to be tested. But no good parent gives us a task without the means in which to complete the task. He wants us to come back to Him and has given us tools, like the words from encouraging scriptures, to help us do so.

Life is hard, and we need help along our journey back to Him. I once heard that if we want to speak to God, we pray. If we want God to speak to us, we read the scriptures. Through the scriptures we can receive guidance, encouragement, and peace.

Today I wanted to focus on some scriptures that have helped me feel encouraged in my life and that I hold near and dear to my heart.

Alma 58:10-11

10 Therefore we did pour out our souls in prayer to God, that he would strengthen us and deliver us out of the hands of our enemies, yea, and also give us strength that we might retain our cities, and our lands, and our possessions, for the support of our people.

11 Yea, and it came to pass that the Lord our God did visit us with assurances that he would deliver us; yea, insomuch that he did speak peace to our souls, and did grant unto us great faith, and did cause us that we should hope for our deliverance in him.

Psalm 31:24

24 Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.

Exodus 4:10-12

10 ¶ And Moses said unto the Lord, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of slow tongue.

11 And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord?

12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.

Psalm 30:5

5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.

Isaiah 41:10

10 ¶Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

Luke 1:37

37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Doctrine & Covenants 121:7

7 My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but small moment.

2 Nephi 4:20-23

20 My God hath been my support; he hath led me through mine afflictions in the wilderness; and he hath preserved me upon the waters of the great deep.

21 He hath filled me with his love, even unto the consuming of my flesh.

22 He hath confounded mine enemies, unto the causing of them to quake before me.

23 Behold, he hath heard my cry by day, and he hath given me knowledge by visions in the night-time.

John 16:33

33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

A lot of these scriptures have a common theme. The Lord is always there for us. He will never leave us alone if we seek Him. Jesus Christ knows everything we’ve ever gone through and will ever go through. With that alone, I find encouragement and peace. What scripture encourages you the most?

Now Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 This is my go to scripture verse when I am in distress.
