General Conferences Rumors and Predictions for April 2024

General Conferences Rumors and Predictions for April 2024

April 2024 General Conference is upon us. It’s an amazing time to be taught by the spirit of God, to feel peace, and to hear true messages from the Lord’s anointed servants. We invite you to make general conference your top priority this weekend. Watch all 10 hours this weekend! It will uplift and strengthen you.

One of our favorite things to do is share some general conference predictions.

Senior Leaders at the Pulpit?

President Nelson posted on Facebook, indicating that he and others might not be at the pulpit for General Conference, or at the very least, will need help getting there and may be seated while speaking:

As senior leaders in the Church, we are called to serve for the remainder of our lives, often long beyond “retirement age.” This means that you may see some of us during general conference speak while sitting down, or pre-record our message to be shared at the appropriate time, or even require a little assistance getting to and from our seats in the conference center.

New Temple Recommend Questions

Apparently, many feel that the wearing of the garment is not something that they covenanted to do in the temple, and word has it that there will be some clarification on that point in the temple recommend questions. I believe it will be made abundantly clear that wearing the garment of the holy priesthood is part of the covenant one makes in the temple.

The thirteenth temple recommend question currently reads as follows:

13. (This question is omitted for un-endowed members.) Do you keep the covenants that you made in the temple, including wearing the temple garment as instructed in the endowment? (Read the “Wearing the Temple Garment” statement, included below, to each member.)

The temple garment is a reminder of covenants made in the temple and, when worn properly throughout life, will serve as a protection against temptation and evil. The garment should be worn beneath the outer clothing. It should not be removed for activities that can reasonably be done while wearing the garment, and it should not be modified to accommodate different styles of clothing. Endowed members should seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to answer personal questions about wearing the garment.

It is a sacred privilege to wear the garment and doing so is an outward expression of an inner commitment to follow the Savior Jesus Christ.

Expect to see an adjustment to the question in the recommend interview and also the statement that goes along with it.

New Sunday School Presidency

Some predict that we will see the Sunday School presidency reorganized this year. The Sunday School is typically reorganized every 5 years, and this April marks that milestone. On a recent social media post where this was eluded to, someone who claimed to be a member of Elder Mark L. Pace’s (the current general Sunday School president) ward seemed to concur with this prediction.

Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible?

When the transfer of sacred sites and historic documents between the Community of Christ and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was finalized and announced, the following items were announced in that acquisition:

Manuscripts of the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible:
Old Testament manuscript 1 (June 1830–7 March 1831)
Old Testament manuscript 2, first part (8 March–5 April 1831)
Old Testament manuscript 2, second part (20 July 1832–2 July 1833)
Old Testament manuscript 3 (ca. late 1830–early 1831)
New Testament manuscript 1 (8 March–June 1831)
New Testament manuscript 2, Folio 1 (4 Apr 1831–26 Sep 1831)
New Testament manuscript 2, Folio 2 (26 Sep 1831–late 1831)
New Testament manuscript 2, Folio 3 (winter 1831–1832)
New Testament manuscript 2, Folio 4 (January/February 1832–31 July 1832)

Why is this significant? The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has never published the Joseph Smith inspired translation of the Bible as their official Bible cannon, it has always been the King James Version that the Church has used. Could this change now that the manuscripts, and presumably the rights to the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible has been acquired?

Temple Locations

Here is one setup of temple announcement predictions that I came across:

April 2024 Temple Predictions
1. Kampala, Uganda 🇺🇬
2. Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire 🇨🇮
3. Port Harcourt, Nigeria 🇳🇬
4. Greater Nuku’alofa, Tonga 🇹🇴
5. Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🇦🇺
6. Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom 🇬🇧
7. Florianópolis, Brazil 🇧🇷
8. Neuquen, Argentina 🇦🇷
9. Osorno, Chile 🇨🇱
10. Santiago, Dominican Republic 🇩🇴
11. Atlanta South, Georgia 🇺🇸
12. Cincinnati, Ohio 🇺🇸
13. Milwaukee, Wisconsin 🇺🇸
14. Flagstaff, Arizona 🇺🇸
15. Evanston, Wyoming 🇺🇸
16. Nampa, Idaho 🇺🇸
17. Spanish Fork, Utah 🇺🇸

While the announcement of temples is great, what’s greater is when it inspires people to become more of a temple-attending people. I made a goal after last conference that I would attend the temple as many times as temples that were announced. I have accomplished that goal. Twenty visits to the temple – be it an open house, baptisms for the dead, endowments, stops in Hawaii outside the Kona temple which was closed for renovation.

You should take on the same challenge. If 17 temples are announced during conference, do you think you can visit the temple 17 times before October 2024’s conference?

President Holland to Speak

While President Holland hasn’t spoken since October 2022, it appears that his health has improved to the point that he will be able to speak in conference.

Elder Renlund gave some insight into how severe the situation was with President Holland’s health in an Instagram post last year.

President Holland was in critical condition. Adrenaline-like drugs were being used to support his circulation. He was virtually non-responsive. The physicians didn’t know exactly what was wrong and had informed his children that the prognosis was extremely poor. I felt a sense of foreboding. I told President Ballard that the only way President Holland would come back to meaningfully fulfill his Apostolic calling was through divine intervention. Physicians, surgeons, and medicines were not going to do it. Only through God’s blessings would it happen. President Ballard nodded and said, “We will just have to keep praying and exercise our faith.”

The next time I accompanied President Ballard to the hospital, President Holland was sitting in a chair, chatting with nurses, asking about breakfast. He asked about my wife, Ruth, and daughter, Ashley. He was his usual self. It was a miracle. It was divine intervention. He was discharged from the hospital and gained strength by the day. When President Ballard’s health took a turn for the worse, President Holland reversed the roles and became an extraordinary ministering brother for the rest of President Ballard’s life.

Now, President Holland has been set apart as the Acting President of my quorum. God is in the details. President Holland has been preserved for such a time as this.

We are all excited to be able to hear from President Holland again.

Perennial Conference Rumor Favorites

Here are some favorite general conference rumors / predictions the come every year and never seem to go away, and a few others that are making their debut this go-round. Many of these were found through an intense search on social media. So take them all with quite a few grains of salt. They are just fun guesses.

  • The Kirtland Temple site will be purchased and turned into a historical site. (This was a carryover from a previous article and it came true!)
  • A second quorum of twelve apostles will be announced, restoring the organization that existed when Christ called 12 apostles on the American continent after his resurrection.
  • Options for 18, 30, and 36 month full-time missions will be announced.
  • Youth temple baptisms including older primary kids.
  • One of President Oak’s talks will be him just quoting the words of Joseph Smith.
  • Two Apostles being assigned to a three and a half year mission in Jerusalem.
  • New calling of Ward WiFi Deactivator – responsible for disabling WiFi during Sacrament Meeting and activating a cell phone signal blocker until the meeting is over.
  • Church Headquarters moved out of Salt Lake City

What are your predictions? Feel free to leave them in the comments below and we might add them to this article.
