Visiting the Peter Whitmer Farm Historic Site

Visiting the Peter Whitmer Farm Historic Site

Editor’s note: Many are familiar with my daughter, Sara Arkell, also known as The Piano Gal. Sara has been called to serve in the New York Syracuse Mission. This is a series on her weekly letters that we will be posting on the site for those who wish to follow along with her mission. You can read her previous emails here.

Wow this week was so AMAZING!! MY TESTIMONY HAS BEEN SO STRENGTHENED. Wow I felt the Spirit so much this week! I’m so thankful God gave me the experiences I had.

The Peter Whitmer Farm is such a memorable place. This was my first time at that site! The Peter Whitmer Farm, for those of you who may not know, is the place where the translation of The Book of Mormon was completed and where the Church was officially organized on April 6, 1830. So many miracles happened on that land and I felt so honored to be there. It still blows me away that I’m serving in the mission where the Restoration first began!!! Gotta keep pinching myself!!!

Before we walked through the Whitmer’s log cabin, we were shown a video depicting the growth of the Church from the early saints until now. It was such an incredible video. I felt the Spirit so strongly it brought me to tears! I KNOW this Church is true. I will never ever deny that. I felt my testimony solidified in that. There is literally no way this church came about without the hand of God. It’s so amazing to see!

Then we had a youth fireside last night and man it was so incredible. We got to be the “special guests” and talk a little bit about our personal experience with preparing to serve our missions. I absolutely LOVE telling that story from my life because it means so much to me!!! At the end of the event, we closed with singing “I Will Be What I Believe“. It got to the point where I couldn’t singing because I was crying. I felt the Spirit so strongly testify that I am in the right place right now. It was the coolest feeling! My heart is just so full.

We had lots of faith this week to find new friends and still haven’t seen the fruits but we are putting in a lot of effort! I can feel someone elect coming our way though 🙂

I FINISHED THE BOOK OF MORMON THIS MORNING!!!  This was the third time on my mission and I love it so much. The other day I felt myself literally craving scripture study time & it made me feel happy to know that I’ve changed at least in that aspect, haha. Literally thirsting for the scriptures!! I know The Book of Mormon is true! Gonna read it one more time before I head home 🙂 if anyone wants to do it with me, let me know!
I love you all!! Keep strengthening your testimony. God wants to give you cool experiences!!
