There Is Opposition In All Things

There Is Opposition In All Things

Editor’s note: Many are familiar with my daughter, Sara Arkell, also known as The Piano Gal. Sara has been called to serve in the New York Syracuse Mission. This is a series on her weekly letters that we will be posting on the site for those who wish to follow along with her mission. You can read her previous emails here.

Another preparation day, another email! I’m gonna be honest – this week was super hard! Not about to sugarcoat the mission experience.  Opposition in all things is definitely a true principle. I’ve noticed a pattern where once something AMAZING happens, like a baptism, the next week seems to be a little rough and that happened this week for sure!

But that is where the learning and growing comes from. We can’t always have it easy or we wouldn’t ever learn anything, ya know? One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned on my mission so far is to trust in God’s timing. We do a lot of planting seeds but not necessarily seeing the fruits of it out here. We knock doors, people aren’t interested a lot of the time, but who knows?

Years down the road they might listen to a missionary because they remembered when we knocked and were happy people on their doorstep. We just have to trust that what we are doing is making a difference! And I know it does, it can just be hard to remember that sometimes 🙂 I’m grateful for the small things that God gives me each day to bring me joy so I can keep going!

District Council meeting

We had interviews with President Gentry this week! He is so amazing & I love talking with him. I got my official go home date which is crazyyy!! Less than 5 months!

We got ice cream  the way to my heart haha. Although, I really miss Stewart’s ice cream that was in Rome!! They don’t have that here in Lockport!

We finally got to have a lesson with cute little Bruce and his brother and grandma! He is so amazing. He was baptized 4 months ago but kinda fell off the face of the earth for a bit. Now we’re back in contact though! I’m grateful that God gives people many chances to fully embrace the gospel!! It’s never too late. Just start NOW 🙂

We get to have zone conference at the Peter Whitmer Farm this week!! I’m SOOOO excited that is one church site I haven’t been to yet! Super looking forward to it!

Please keep our area in your prayers 🙂 we need to find people to teach! Send any encouraging thoughts or scriptures my way if you want!! Love yall!
