Editor’s note: Many are familiar with my daughter, Sara Arkell, also known as The Piano Gal. Sara has been called to serve in the New York Syracuse Mission. This is a series on her weekly letters that we will be posting on the site for those who wish to follow along with her mission. You can read her previous emails here.
Hey!! Happy August everyone! My birthday month, woot woot!
This week was full of a lot of meeting members still! This ward is awesome! We have a lot of members that are in rehab centers or can’t physically make it to church so we spend a good amount of time visiting them! We also do a lot of member work with trying to reactivate members and get them to come back to church. It’s always a little sad to meet members who have fallen away from the church.

We made a few new friends this week that we’re going to start teaching! We’re finding families which is super exciting! It’s an interesting dynamic when teaching though because you have to gear the lesson to all family. Makes it fun!
One of the families we are teaching are doing good. The 11 year old seems to be losing interest a little bit but the mom has been really stepping it up. She is totally LOVING The Book of Mormon and really internalizing the stories! She’s amazing!
I gave a last minute talk in church this Sunday! That’s 2 weeks in a row, gotta love it I spoke about deepening our testimonies! It is SO IMPORTANT to have a testimony. It is what will carry you through the storms that will come your way & keep you steady! I used this talk a lot during it, highly recommend reading it! “The Power of a Personal Testimony”
Sorry this email is so short! This week was really slow haha! I love you all a lot!!
