Editor’s note: Many are familiar with my daughter, Sara Arkell, also known as The Piano Gal. Sara has been called to serve in the New York Syracuse Mission. This is a series on her weekly letters that we will be posting on the site for those who wish to follow along with her mission. You can read her previous emails here.
I hope you had the best week ever!! It was a pretty eventful week here! The weather got super hot. High 80s with like 80% humidity – pray for me.
Remember Naji from my first transfer in Rome?! We ran into him again at a shoe store on Monday after being out of contact for a whole month. He took it as a sign from God so we’ve had 2 lessons with him this week and he’s back woot woot!
Went on exchanges with Sister Nielsen on Wednesday and we went to the ice cream place called Nicky Doodles with the young women in our ward. Apparently it’s a staple here in Rome and you have to go when you’re here. Well Sister Thompson and I started a challenge of no treats a couple days before so I got sugar free ice cream (not worth it) and got to enjoy the cute young women! They’re so fun!
We had the coolest miracle on exchanges and met a guy named Josh!!! We were walking down his street and he was sitting on the porch. We started talking to him and he wanted to hear our message about Jesus Christ! He has hardly any religious background and doesn’t know a whole lot about God or Jesus Christ. He’d never heard of The Book of Mormon so we shared a scripture with him and he loved it. We gave him the book and then walked around the neighborhood & talked for 30 minutes! He was so interested!!!
We met with him the next night as well and he can tell how much the gospel will help him. He’s 19 and it’s really fun to teach someone our age for a change! It’s a nice breath of fresh air! He’s gonna come to church this week!
One of our friends got his very first priesthood blessing on Friday and that was an incredible experience. He got so emotional and we could tell he was really feeling the Spirit! Satan is working SO hard on him right now. Please pray that him will come back to church. He hasn’t been for 3 weeks, we need a miracle!
We were able to watch the worldwide young adult devotional with President Nelson on Sunday night & it was amazing! I felt the Spirit so strongly reaffirm to me again that he really is God’s Prophet on the earth right now and I could feel God’s love through him. Please follow the prophet! He is a source of truth we can always trust. He will never lead us astray because he receives guidance directly from God! Ah I just love it!!!
Have such a good week! Read 2 Nephi 4 in The Book of Mormon this week! We’ve read it with 2 of our returning members and it’s just SO GOOD.
