‘Twas a Good Week – Zone Conference and Root Canals
Editor’s note: Many are familiar with my daughter, Sara Arkell, also known as The Piano Gal. Sara has been called to serve in the New York Syracuse Mission. This is a series on her weekly letters that we will be posting on the site for those who wish to follow along with her mission. You can read her previous emails here.
Elder Mark A. Bassett came to our mission for a mission tour this week. We got to hear from him 3 days in a row and I was so uplifted! We had Zone Conference with him, too, which was also amazing! He made the scriptures come alive and gave us some incredible guidance as missionaries. I just soaked it all up.

This week I felt SO homesick. Before I came on my mission, I thought I’d be completely fine but I guess I was wrong thank goodness for the blessing of weekly video calls with my family. But a lot of things were said during this week that stuck out to me and helped me. It’s so important to pray about things that you’re struggling with and then keep your eyes and ears open to answers! They will come!

My companion, Sister Dean, had to get a root canal this week. She’s been in so much pain so I’m glad she was able to get it fixed. You have to go through so many different loopholes as a missionary to handle stuff like that, it’s pretty crazy. But luckily there was a doctor close to us that could help! Blessing!

We did exchanges yesterday. (It’s where you go with another sister missionary for a day) It was so fun. I had a blast with Sister Hall. She is literally the funniest person I have EVER met. I aspire to be like her we had some miracles happen! One of them being putting a man named William on date for baptism! He’s only been taught twice but he already wants to get baptized!! He is phenomenal.

I was able to extend the invitation and that was so cool. Actually my 2nd one of the week! It’s really amazing to see these people want to come closer to Christ and take that step. I love it.

On my Facebook this week, I was focusing on HAPPINESS  the best way to be happy is to follow Christ and keep His commandments. Truly the best way! I know it is! More blessings will come to you then ever before when you align your will with His and strive to be better every single day.
