This photo illustrates a special place to me, because it is the location where I often study my scriptures. In prior years, I might have had many different study areas around the world as I traveled to visit with you. But like many of you, I have spent more time at home in recent months.
The scriptures tell us that in the last days, “all things shall be in commotion” (Doctrine and Covenants 88:91). The scriptures were written for our time, and they reflect our challenges. We certainly see commotion and uncertainty around us today.
But the scriptures also give us a promise of peace. We learn in the Book of Mormon that our Savior, Jesus Christ, suffered “pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind,” so that He could “succor his people according to their infirmities” (Alma 7:11–12).
I am grateful for the inspiration, guidance, peace, and pattern of revelation we find in the scriptures. The Lord comforts and inspires me as I immerse myself in the scriptures, and I know He will also comfort and inspire you. He encircles us eternally “in the arms of his love” (2 Nephi 1:15).
What have you found in your scripture study this year that brings you peace? I look forward to hearing from you.
