You’ve probably been in social settings where introductory pleasantries are exchanged, and people ask each other what they do for a living.
One person is a dentist – another a nurse’s assistant. Someone else works in sales, and another is a CFO. There are a few ladies in the mix and one of them says sheepishly, “I’m just a mom.”
Well, being a mom is fantastic!
In a world where being strictly a mother is somehow looked down on, the LDS Church has released a video exploring the many miraculous facets of motherhood that will make any mother lift her head up high as she realizes her true value.

President David O. McKay said, “Motherhood is the greatest potential influence either for good or ill in human life. The mother’s image is the first that stamps itself on the unwritten page of the young child’s mind. It is her caress that first awakens a sense of security; her kiss, the first realization of affection; her sympathy and tenderness, the first assurance that there is love in the world.”
President Russell M. Nelson shares an incredible insight into why he chose the profession he did. “During my professional career as a doctor of medicine, I was occasionally asked why I chose to do that difficult work. I responded with my opinion that the highest and noblest work in this life is that of a mother. Since that option was not available to me, I thought that caring for the sick might come close. I tried to care for my patients as compassionately and competently as mother cared for me.”
This video produced by the LDS Church will tug at your heart strings and make you proud of being a mother. It will also cause you to reflect on the impact that your own mother has had on your life. After you watch this video, if you can, call your mom and tell her that you love her. Tell her that being a mom was the greatest thing she’s ever done!
