Missionaries Sing Version of “Nearer My God to Thee” Ukulele Style

Two LDS missionaries, Elder Townsend and Elder Booth, from the Missouri Independence Mission, sat down to do a one-take version of “Nearer My God to Thee”, ukulele style.

Elder Townsend shared the video on his Facebook profile, with the following message:

The focus for today’s #LightTheWorld initiative is comforting those with Spiritual or Physical sicknesses. Dieter F. Uchtdorf has said, “Even the deepest spiritual wounds – yes, even those that may appear to be incurable – can be healed. My dear friends, the healing power of Jesus Christ is not absent in our day.”

If I’ve learned anything in my life, it’s that only by drawing ‘Nearer’ to God, in the midst of our weaknesses and afflictions, can we feel a lasting source of peace and joy in this life. I am so grateful for Him!

Elder Townsend has a successful YouTube channel posting music covers of himself singing and playing piano before the mission. You can see all of his videos >> here.
